The cold winter is coming to an end and the days are again getting longer. Sue Marshall, owner of iris of Sissinghurst has focused on attending a number of horticultural societies and presenting talks on iris. The talks range from growing iris, the running of specialist nurseries, the different varieties of iris as well as the trials and tribulations of growing for Chelsea. The talk on growing for Chelsea has proven popular with Societies. The talks this year have extended to Essex and Sussex and any society that would like a speaker from Iris of Sissinghurst should just telephone the nursery to discuss the options.
The on-line purchase of iris has continued over the winter period and new varieties have been added for the 2011 year. This has included short, intermediate and tall bearded iris. Photographs of these new varieties will be addd to the plant details within the next few weeks. The first shows attended by Iris of Sissinghurst begin in April 2011. Details of these shows will be published in the Latest News section of the website.
