iris_lazica1.jpgWinter flowering Iris

Spring is not far away but the  winter flowering Iris are continuing to flower

Iris unguicularis has pretty scented lilac flowers Foliage can be a little untidy

Plants thrive in dry sunny sites ideally against a wall

Iris lazica has similar flowers foliage grows approx 12 inches tall

Lazica will tolerate damper conditions and grows well in borders in the garden

Spring flowering bulbs are also beginning to emerge providing patches of colour in the garden

Some of my favourites are Iris reticulata Gordon and Iris histroides Katharine Hodgkin
